The CW drama series The Tomorrow People follows a generation of humans born with paranormal abilities, who are the next evolutionary leap of mankind. Up until a year ago, Stephen (Robbie Amell) was a “normal” teenager, but then he learned that he is part of a genetically advanced race with the abilities of telekinesis, teleportation and telepathic communication, and that this race is being hunted down by a paramilitary group of scientists known as Ultra. Returning with all new episodes, actress Alexa Vega is joining the show as fellow Ultra trainee Hillary, for a story arc in which Jedikiah (Mark Pellegrino) decides to see who is worthy of becoming an Ultra agent by forcing them to compete with each other. In this exclusive phone interview with Collider, Alexa Vega talked about how this role was offered to her, why she wanted to be a part of this show, the fun of playing such a conniving bitch, how much she still wants to learn about her character, her drive to fight for survival, learning how to do the teleporting stunts, and getting to do all of her own fighting. Checking out what she had to say after the jump. Collider: Did you have any idea that this role would be offered to you? Had you been talking to them about doing something on the show? ALEXA VEGA: Robbie Amell, who plays Stephen on the show, is a close friend of mine. He and I had worked together earlier this summer. I had read this ...

As part of their fall preview, Entertainment Weekly has released new images from some upcoming films. There are images from potential awards contenders like Spike Jonze's Her, Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity, Paul Greengrass' Captain Phillips, Peter Berg's Lone Survivor, and the AIDS drama Dallas Buyers Club starring Matthew McConaughey. And there are also some images from Machete Kills and 47 Ronin, which probably will be left out of the awards race, but that's only because the Academy refuses to acknowledge the superb craft of strapping guns to Sofia Vergara's breasts. Hit the jump to check out the images, synopses, and release dates. Via EW [via The Playlist]. Gravity (October 4th) Here's the synopsis: Sandra Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone–tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space. Captain Phillips (October 11th) Here's the synopsis: Captain Phillips is director Paul Greengrass’s multi-layered examination of the 2009 hijacking of the U.S. container ship Maersk Alabama by a crew of Somali pirates. It is – through Greengrass’s ...
Robert Rodriguez is finally getting to two projects this summer that he’s long-promised were on the way: Machete Kills and Sin City 2. He’s been filming the Machete follow-up first, and today he revealed a piece of casting in grand fashion by tweeting a character poster for a woman named Le Chameleon, played by Lady Gaga. Rodriguez’s full tweet reads like this: I just finished working with @LadyGaga on @MacheteKills , she kicked SO MUCH ASS! Holy Smokes. Blown away! The sequel finds the titular star, an ex-Federale played by Danny Trejo, receiving a request from the President himself to take down a dangerous drug lord who is threatening the U.S. with nuclear attacks (obviously). The eclectic, and quite possibly volatile, cast includes Jessica Alba, Edward James Olmos, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Demian Bichir, Michelle Rodriguez, Mel Gibson, and Charlie Sheen. Yep, Lady Gaga fits right in. Hit the jump to take a gander at her poster, and also to get a look at Spy Kids star Alexa Vega, um, in character for Machete Kills. Warning: she's very, very grown-up now. Here's what Alexa Vega looks like now (via Instagram), in Machete Kills, followed by a Spy Kids image for reference. Please try not to drool on your keyboard. The trailer for Robert Rodriguez' Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World has gone online. The film stars Jessica Alba as Marissa Cortez Wilson, a retired spy who returns to the espionage alongside her two step children Rebecca (Rowan Blanchard) and Cecil (Mason Cook), the new "Spy Kids", to defeat the evil Timekeeper (Jeremy Piven). Antonio Banderas, Danny Trejo, Alexa Vega, and Daryl Sabara are all set to return and they'll be joined by series newcomer Joel McHale. Even though I enjoyed the first two Spy Kids films, this one looks like a challenge. Bad guys getting hits with bags of vomit doesn't exactly have the same charm as a Spy Kid having a watch that does everything but tell time. I know these are movies for kids, but they used to be movies their parents could also enjoy and I'm not really seeing that in this international trailer. Hit the jump to check out the trailer. Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World opens in 3D (I'm not sure why the trailer says "4D" unless all theaters magically got glasses-free 3D screens) on August 19th. Trailer via Spoiler TV. Here's the official synopsis Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World: On the surface, Marissa Cortez Wilson (Jessica Alba) has it all…married to a famous spy hunting television reporter, a new baby and intelligent twin step kids. But in reality, trying to mother Rebecca (Rowan Blanchard) and Cecil (Mason Cook), who clearly don’t want her around, is her ...
