Disney has released a new trailer for director James Bobin's upcoming sequel Muppets Most Wanted. In the follow-up, the gang is on a successful tour in Europe but gets into trouble when Kermit gets confused with his jewel-heisting doppelganger, Constantine. I really enjoyed 2011's The Muppets, but almost everything I'm seeing from this sequel is doing nothing for me. It's not a bad premise, and it's amusing to see Constantine try to impersonate Kermit, but it's still a fairly tired plot and there's almost none of the irreverence or wackiness I'd expect to see from a Muppet movie. Here's hoping it's just a bad trailer and not a bad movie. Hit the jump check out the new trailer and images, and find out about some of the cameos. The film stars Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey, and Ty Burrell. Muppets Most Wanted opens March 21, 2014. Via Yahoo! Movies. Yahoo! Movies also reveals that the film's cameos include Celine Dion, Salma Hayek, Ray Liotta (who also had a cameo in Muppets from Space), P. Diddy, and Danny Trejo. There are few details on the cameos except for Trejo, who will be in the Russian gulag with Kermit. Trejo was supposed to have a cameo in the 2011 movie, but it ended up on the cutting room floor, so they decided to bring him back. I'm all for Trejo paling around with Kermit the Frog. Here's the official synopsis for Muppets Most Wanted: Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out ...
When Robert Rodriguez first announced firm plans for a Machete sequel at Comic-Con a few years back, he added that he was envisioning a trilogy that would be capped by a space-set Machete film. Judging by the poor box office receipts for Machete Kills (it finished with a paltry $14 million worldwide), a third film seems highly unlikely, but we have a little preview of what might have been by way of a trailer for Machete Kills Again…In Space. The fake trailer played in front of Machete Kills, but seeing as how very few people actually saw the sequel in theaters, it has now landed online for all to see. Hit the jump to watch the trailer, which features appearances by Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Alex Vega, Lady Gaga, and a couple of other celebrity “cameos.” Via Reddit.
When director Roel Reine’s shoot-em-up western Dead in Tombstone was filming in Romania last year, I got to visit the set along with a few other online reporters. The film starsDanny Trejo as the leader of a gang of outlaws who frees his half-brother (Anthony Michael Hall) from prison in order to loot a mining town. The plan backfires when Hall double crosses Trejo and kills him. Trejo makes a deal with the devil (Mickey Rourke) and comes back from the dead to seek revenge. As Patrick said in his Blu-ray review, “Dead in Tombstone has some really impressive stunts and set-pieces – from horse-drawn carriage flips to chandelier swings (classic!) and massive explosions – and they’re all staged and shot better than most Hollywood action fare. One particular explosion near the end looks impossibly large, though no CGI was used. Action fans will definitely want to check out this unique supernatural revenge thriller.” During my on set video interview with Danny Trejo, he talked about how he got involved in the project, what it's like to shoot in Romania, his admiration for Anthony Michael Hall, his preparation process, the action sequences, his experience on Sons of Anarchy, plans for Machete Kills and Machete Kills Again, Death Race 3, and so much more. Hit the jump to watch. Danny Trejo Time Index: Trejo gets a lot of attention for Death Race. 0:50 – What it's like to shoot in Romania. He likes to walk around Bucharest. 2:00 – How he got involved and what the movie is about. 3:30 – Trejo has known Mickey Rourke for years. 4:20 – ...
A few casting notices tonight: Blake Lively and Ellen Burstyn signed on to lead the romantic drama The Age of Adaline about a young woman who stops aging after a near-fatal accident. Craig Roberts will take a supporting role in 22 Jump Street. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum go undercover at college in the sequel. Speaking of the Jump Street star, Channing Tatum joins the voice cast of the Guillermo del Toro-produced cartoon Book of Life along with Zoe Saldana, Diego Luna, Christina Applegate, Ice Cube, and many more. More on each project after the jump. Last we heard in 2012, Isabel Coixet came on board to direct The Age of Adaline after it passed through the hands of Gabriele Muccino and Andy Tenant, and just as Katherine Heigl left the project. According to Deadline, Lee Toland Krieger (Celeste and Jesse Forever) is the latest director attached to the rich premise. Adalade (Lively) stops aging after an accident at 29 years old: "Over the 20th century she embarks on an epic, but isolated worldwide journey, keeping her secret, until she meets a man who forever alters her life." Ice Cube, Amber Stevens, and Wyatt Russell join Roberts in the 22 Jump Street supporting cast. All THR knows is Roberts will play a character named Spencer. Principal photography began earlier this month with Phil Lord and Chris Miller returning to direct. Deadline also lists Kate del Castillo, Ron Perlman, Cheech Marin, Hector Elizondo, Placido Domingo, Ana de la Reguera, Eugenio Derbez, Gabriel Iglesias, Ricardo “El Mandril” Sanchez, and Danny Trejo for the Book of ...
A new red-band trailer for director Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming sequel Machete Kills has been released online, and it’s just the right amount of silly. The film centers on Machete’s (Danny Trejo) quest to stop an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has plans to spread war and anarchy across the planet. The trailer shows off plenty of unbridled carnage at the hands of Trejo’s Machete, but we also get to see more of Mel Gibson’s villainous character, who describes himself as a “fucker-people-upper.” It remains to be seen whether the film will be fun and absurd rather than just absurd, but it looks like we’ll get to see one hell of a Mel Gibson performance regardless. Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film also stars Sofia Vergara, Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alex Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr., William Sadler, and Marko Zaror. Machete Kills opens in theaters on October 11th. Via IGN. Here’s the official synopsis for Machete Kills: In MACHETE KILLS, Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent MACHETE, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.
A new trailer has been released for Robert Rodriguez' Machete Kills. The film centers on Machete’s (Danny Trejo) quest to stop an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has plans to spread war and anarchy across the planet. This new trailer provides more of a "plot" synopsis, but mostly gives us a look at the supporting cast, which includes Lady Gaga, Cuba Gooding Jr., Antonio Banderas, and Mel Gibson as the villain. Judging by this new trailer, Rodriguez has run out of ways to make Machete fun and interesting, and is now just making a really long Funny or Die video where celebrities briefly take on ridiculous roles. Hit the jump to check out the trailer. The film also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Sofia Vergara, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alex Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, William Sadler, and Marko Zaror. Here's a new batch of posters to complement the ones we posted earlier today: A look at a Chilean martial artist, Marko Zaror, trading in his fists for a shotgun in Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills. The sequel, starring Danny Trejo in the title role, drops sometime next year. Two new Spanish posters from Rich Moore's animated feature, Wreck-It Ralph. Featuring the voices of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch, Wreck-It Ralph comes out on November 2nd of this year. An official poster for The Sessions from writer/director Ben Lewin. The Sundance 2012 Audience Award Winner stars John Hawkes, Helen Hunt and William H. Macy. Look for it in theaters starting October 26th. Hit the jump for the new posters and synopses. First up is a look at Zaror in Machete Kills (via IMPAwards): Now we've got two new international posters for Wreck-It Ralph, also from IMPAwards: From Walt Disney Animation Studios and Emmy®-winning director Rich Moore comes “Wreck-It Ralph,” a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping adventure. For decades, Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) has been overshadowed by Fix-It Felix, Jr. (voice of Jack McBrayer), the good-guy star of their game who always gets to save the day. Tired of playing the role of a bad guy, Ralph takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a journey across the arcade through multiple generations of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero. On his quest, Ralph meets tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Jane Lynch) from the first-person action ...
Two trailers and a poster have been released for Bad Ass starring Danny Trejo. The plot focuses an old guy (Trejo) who becomes an Internet sensation when he beats up a couple of thugs on a commuter bus. However, he goes on a rampage after his best friend is murdered and the cops don't do anything about it. That second part isn't mentioned in the either trailer. The trailers are simply: Danny Trejo is old and he kicks the shit out of people. I have no problem with that, and I doubt this will be another misdirect like Machete. As a character actor, Trejo has always carried the mantle of "Bad Ass" so it's only fitting that he should star in a movie with the same title. You would have to be a bad ass to wear a fanny pack and still come off as threatening. Hit the jump to check out the trailers and poster. The film also stars Charles S. Dutton and Ron Perlman. Bad Ass opens April 13th. Trailers and poster via Apple. Here's the official synopsis for Bad Ass: Decorated Vietnam hero Frank Vega returns home only to get shunned by society leaving him without a job or his high school sweetheart. It's not until forty years later when an incident on a commuter bus (where he protects an elderly black man from a pair of skin heads) makes him a local hero where he's suddenly celebrated once again. But his good fortune suddenly turns for the worse when his ...
A promo poster for Robert Rodriguez' Machete sequel, Machete Kills, has popped up online. Unfortunately, Machete was a massive disappointment and I'm wary of a sequel, which is part two in a planned trilogy; the finale will be Machete Kills Again. Machete misunderstood what a gritty B-movie was supposed to be, gussied it up with movie stars, used a bloated storyline to accommodate all of them, and its biggest crime was making Machete (Danny Trejo) a supporting character in his own movie. Hopefully, Machete Kills will be leaner and trust Trejo to carry the flick. The plot has Machete tasked to "take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space." So…space weapons and global war…that's leaner, right? Hit the jump to check out the promo poster. Filming on Machete Kills is set to begin filming in April. The poster, which showed up at the European Film Market in Berlin, comes to us via ComingSoon.
