Hot on the heels of yesterday’s 300: Rise of An Empire trailer, Warner Bros. has released a sensational new banner. The poster features Rodrigo Santoro as Xerxes, overlooking his massive army who are ready to do battle and ensure that “Athens burns.”
The film picks up moments after 300 ended, with “the 300” killed in the defense of their beloved Athens. Lena Headey is compelled to seek revenge by her inner circle, and thus begins our war story. What’s interesting is that this film’s battle scenes will largely take place at sea, allowing director Noam Murro a whole new canvas to craft fight sequences that feel out-of-this world, much as 300 director Zack Snyder did with the original.
Look for 300: Rise of An Empire in theaters March 7.
Fans have been abuzz since it was announced that a sequel was coming to How to Train Your Dragon. The original was a surprise hit and the second that full length How to Train Your Dragon 2 trailer landed, expectations shot through the roof. Well, we’ve seen the first official How to Train Your Dragon 2 poster, and now the character posters are starting to drop.
First up, it’s Astrid!
Astrid is voiced by America Ferrera and she is back in the cast that also includes Jay Baruchel returning as Hiccup, as well as Jonah Hill and a bevy of acting vets that includes Gerard Butler (just announced to be part of the Point Break remake), Craig Ferguson and Kristen Wiig.
Look for How to Train Your Dragon 2 in theaters June 13.
Finally! The latest The Amazing Spider-Man 2 posters have given what we suspected all along some credence. Sure, Jamie Foxx as Electro is our main villain, but given what we saw in that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Triptych poster, we knew there were at least three baddies for Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man to battle. With the release of two international posters today by Sony, the tagline on the Foxx adorned one says it all: “Enemies Will Unite!”
Garfield is back as Spider-Man and Peter Parker, and he’s doing battle with Electro sure, but also Paul Giamatti as Rhino and it appears his good buddy Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) is Green Goblin. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 international trailer does the best job at hinting at this, but never before has it been put so firmly as it is in the below poster.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 lands in theaters May 2, also starring Emma Stone, Sally Field and Chris Cooper.
Elizabeth Banks (Catching Fire) looks a little worried in the first poster for her upcoming comedy Walk of Shame. See, Banks plays an local TV news reporter who has a night to remember with James Marsden. Great, right?
Well, she ends up taking the titular walk home after being stranded in downtown Los Angeles. She has no phone. She has no ID. She has no money. Oh, and she has eight hours until the biggest interview of her life that could land her on the network news!
The Walk of Shame poster was released today to tease the arrival of the trailer tomorrow. Look for Walk of Shame in theaters April 25, also starring Community star Gillian Jacobs.
Hot on the heels of last week’s release of the Veronica Mars trailer, Warner Bros. has released the film’s first poster and the tagline says it all: “She Thought She Was Out.” Kristen Bell is back as Veronica Mars, a role she originated on TV, and it looks like she is back in the sleuthing business.
Mars has graduated from law school and had put helping her father and his private eye business behind her. But, she gets called back to her hometown of Neptune when her ex is charged with murder. She must pick up her camera once again and hide out to uncover the truth in what appears to be one heck of a frame job.
Veronica Mars is directed by creator Rob Thomas, and stars Jason Dohring, Chris Lowell, Krysten Ritter, Chris Lowell, Percy Daggs III, Tina Majorino, Francis Capra, Ken Marino and of course Enrico Colantoni is back as Veronica’s dad.
Look for Veronica Mars to swing back into action on March 14.
Chris Pine, for fans of the Jack Ryan character created by Tom Clancy, is actually a fantastic choice to play the uber-intelligent spy. We adore Harrison Ford, and Ben Affleck and Alec Baldwin for that matter, but for those of us who cherish Clancy’s work with the spy, Pine is much more who we pictured in our minds.
Paramount has released a new featurette that introduces Pine as Ryan and features not only scenes that give us a feel for his portrayal, but some words from the actor himself.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit works as an origins story of sorts, showing the world how Jack Ryan became Jack Ryan. It lands in theaters January 17 and also stars Keira Knightley as his wife, Kevin Costner as his CIA mentor and Kenneth Branagh, who also directed.
And check out the new Chris Pine character poster below! The tagline says it all: Recruit, agent… target!
With the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes trailer release and those Dawn of the Planet of the Apes "ape" posters in the last few weeks, it is refreshing to report on the human side of the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes website has released a banner poster featuring the three main “human” characters in the simian series. It features Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty), Keri Russell (Austenland) and Gary Oldman (the upcoming RoboCop reboot).
Look for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in theaters July 11, 2014.
The final poster for I, Frankenstein is here and it features a very scarred Aaron Eckhart giving us the stare down. Eckhart stars as Frankenstein’s monster, who is still kicking it 200 years after his creation. The film takes place in modern day where demons have emerged from the bowels of hell and Eckhart is our only hope of survival.
From that first I, Frankenstein trailer, we have to admit this flick looks pretty intriguing. We’ve long felt that Eckhart was a huge movie star in the making and perhaps this is the movie that launches him into another stratosphere.
I, Frankenstein also stars Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto, Jai Courtney and is based on the graphic novel of the same name. Look for it January 24, 2014.
Fresh off the release of the Lena Headey 300: Rise of an Empire poster and the Eva Green character poster, today we’ve got the most crazy looking character poster yet to arrive: Rodrigo Santoro’s Xerxes, who is returning as the character from the original 300.
Xerxes is the leader of the Persian forces and the mortal-turned-god lives to ruin his enemies’ day. And by the looks of that 300: Rise of an Empire trailer, he’s doing a pretty good job of it.
Noam Murro steps into the director’s chair for Zack Snyder (who was busy with Man of Steel), and from the looks of things so far, 300: Rise of an Empire still has that trademark visual flair that made audiences fall in love with the original.
Mr. Peabody and Sherman are heading into theaters on March 7, 2014, and judging by the footage we’ve already seen, it will be more than worth the wait. In the meantime, the world’s smartest dog and his adopted son want to wish everyone out there a very Merry Christmas with a new poster that could not have a better tagline: Fetch the presents!
Modern Family star Ty Burrell is Mr. Peabody and Max Charles is Sherman. In their first big screen effort, they introduce the world to the WABAC machine, a time machine that is accidentally used in the opening moments of the film by a friend of Sherman to potentially disastrous results. As seen in the Mr. Peabody and Sherman trailer, they head into their machine and race… into history!
