Warner Bros. has released a gallery of 29 images from the boxing comedy Grudge Match. Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone play two Pittsburgh fighters whose rivalry ended abruptly in 1983. Thirty years later, a boxing promoter (Kevin Hart) convinces them to get back in the ring for one last fight that turns into a "must-see HBO event." Watch the trailer here. Alan Arkin, Kim Basinger, and Jon Bernthal also star in Grudge Match. Peter Seagal (Get Smart) directed the December 25 release. Check out the image gallery after the jump. Official synopsis: In “Grudge Match,” De Niro and Stallone play Billy “The Kid” McDonnen and Henry “Razor” Sharp, two local Pittsburgh fighters whose fierce rivalry put them in the national spotlight. Each had scored a victory against the other during their heyday, but in 1983, on the eve of their decisive third match, Razor suddenly announced his retirement, refusing to explain why but effectively delivering a knock-out punch to both their careers. Thirty years later, boxing promoter Dante Slate Jr., seeing big dollar signs, makes them an offer they can’t refuse: to re-enter the ring and settle the score once and for all. But they may not have to wait that long: on their first encounter in decades, their long-festering feud erupts into an unintentionally hilarious melee that instantly goes viral. The sudden social media frenzy transforms their local grudge match into a must-see HBO event. Now, if they can just survive the training, they may actually live to fight again.

Writer/director Stephen Gaghan’s new film Candy Store is inching closer towards production—slowly but surely. Worldwide Entertainment and Lotus Entertainment announced today that they will finance and produce the crime thriller from the Syriana filmmaker, with Robert De Niro signing on to join Jason Clarke and Omar Sy in the cast. The pic tells the story of an undercover agent who begins a new life as a beat cop in Brooklyn, but finds that his past life comes back to haunt him. It’s unclear whether Clarke or De Niro will play said cop, but the film certainly comes with high expectations given that it will be Gaghan’s first major feature directorial effort since 2005’s Syriana. Filming is expected to commence in 2014. Hit the jump for casting news regarding the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel sequel and the full press release for the Candy Store news. Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for director Peter Segal’s (The Longest Yard) upcoming comedy Grudge Match. Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro star as two retired professional boxers who used to be boxers. When they end up getting into a fight while filming mo-cap for a boxing video game, an official rematch is planned and the older gentlemen now have to get into shape. While a boxing movie starring Stallone and De Niro could have easily been a straight drama, this trailer shows that Grudge Match is very much a comedy—complete with a Rocky gag and plenty of “you’re so old that ___” jokes. There’s also a bit with a creepy CGI’d version of Stallone’s younger self retiring from acting, but overall the chemistry between the two and their trainers (played by Kevin Hart and Alan Arkin) looks fairly promising. Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film also stars Jon Bernthal, Kim Basinger, and Camden Grey. Grudge Match opens on Christmas Day. In the new film The Family, (opening in theaters Friday, September 13th) director and screenwriter Luc Bresson brings to life a familiar family of mobsters and places them in witness protection in the middle of France. Giovanni (Robert De Niro), his wife Maggie (Michelle Pfeiffer) and two kids know they should be keeping a low profile but they can’t seem to forget their previous lives, resorting to much more violence than it seems would go so unnoticed. The film packs some funny moments, particularly from Pfeiffer. The Family also stars Glee’s Dianna Agron and John D’Leo as the family’s ruthlessly brilliant children. At the recent press conference for the film, a select group of reporters was able to ask questions of the impressive cast. The young stars of course discussed the impact of working with two legends of the industry, and the veteran actors commended their young partners on their fresh perspective. Pfeiffer and De Niro mentioned that they were thrilled to finally have scenes together, after starring in two films (Stardust and New Year’s Eve) that never let them appear onscreen at the same time. De Niro talked about rewatching Goodfellas to prepare for the film (his gangster character watches it and has to critique the truthfulness of it without revealing his cover). Click after the jump to read the entire press conference. Though not all of the questions at the press conference were particularly insightful, some got the surprisingly reticent De Niro and others to open up. Highlights included De ...
